Industrial Microbox PC

for Tough Environments

Newly launched from Captec is the Apollo series of highly optimised Industrial Microbox PC.  It offers a highly cost effective platform to enable a wide variety of dedicated applications.

As computing platforms become more and more distributed there is a growing need for cost effective and compact computing platforms.  Typically these will run dedicated specialist applications such as OPC servers, communications gateways, video streamers and many more.  The Apollo Microbox PC is a powerful yet compact and self contained complete PC platform, capable of comfortably running Windows CE/NT/2000/XP or Linux applications whilst being ideally suited to automation applications where a robust, compact unit is required, capable of withstanding the rigours of a factory floor environment.

Fully Ethernet network enabled for server connectivity the Apollo Microbox PC offers a highly cost effective platform for distributed applications. Based on a 533MHz low power VIA Pentium III compatible CPU the unit runs exceptionally cool whilst being fanless, thereby reducing the risk of failure due to fan failure.  An optional 800MHz low power Pentium III CPU version is also available for the more demanding applications.

To cater for the rigours of industrial applications, the hard disk drive is fitted in a   highly tuned anti-shock/vibration cradle to provide protection from oscillating machinery and shock.  This highly effective mechanism has been tested at the TUV laboratories operational at up 3g of vibration whilst reading and writing to the disk drive.  For mission critical, high reliability or high shock/vibration applications requiring no moving parts an optional Flash solid-state disk is also available.

Cabling protection has been provided with a choice of optional rear screw on cover,  With three 20mm gland inlets this allows to maintain tidy and unobtrusive cabling as well as further ensuring that cables cannot be disconnected accidentally.  Designed for wall mounting or panel mounting optional wall mounting brackets are also available.

The Apollo comes equipped with a multitude of connectivity ports as standard, including 10/100MB Ethernet, dual USB, parallel and serial Ports.  Should any additional functionality be required, one PCI Expansion slot is available for a half-length plug-in expansion card.
